Obituary for Annith T. Evenson

Annith T. Evenson
Annith T. Evenson

Wenatchee, WA

Former Longview resident, Annith T. Evenson passed away in Wenatchee, WA on
May 16, 2016. She was 100 years old. Annith was born on July 26, 1915 in
McGill, NV to Nicholas and Anna Sankovich. She was the fourth eldest of their
ten children. She attended White Pine High School prior to moving to Portland,
OR and then later to Longview, WA, where she met and married Gilbert Evenson,
her husband of 52 years. She worked at Weyerhaeuser, The Standard Dairy, Troy
Laundry, The Sacajawea Motel and lastly, at Longview Cleaners. She served as a
Democratic Precinct Committeewoman, a member of the American Legion Auxiliary
since 1949, and joined the Ladies Auxiliary of the Fraternal Order of Eagles,
and was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church. Being active and involved was a
way of life for her.

After the passing of her husband in 1988, she embarked on several cruises and
trips, but was just as content to spend time with her four grandchildren and
visit her extended family. After selling the family home where she had lived
for over 50 years, she resided at Monticello Park in Longview, WA. When her
son John relocated to Wenatchee, she decided to move there as well. She lived
in Bonaventure East in East Wenatchee, WA and then moved to Columbia Heights
in Wenatchee, WA. The climate of Eastern Washington reminded her, as she often
remarked of “her days growing up in Nevada.” Sitting in the sunshine was a
favorite pastime of hers that she never tired of and consequently, she sported
a year round tan.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert in 1988, and is survived by
her daughter, Kathryn Evenson, Bainbridge Island, WA and son, John Evenson
(Christine) of Wenatchee, WA; grandchildren: Lindsay Gore, San Francisco, CA,
Erica Evenson, Seattle, WA, Elizabeth Hatakeya (Eiki), Los Angeles, CA and
Michael Gore, Seattle, WA; her sister, Mildred Donaldson, Bend, OR; and many
nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to thank Hospice of Wenatchee and the staff of Columbia
Heights retirement home for their care. A very special thank you is given to
Lorrie McGee, for her love and devotion as Annith’s primary caregiver.

A Graveside Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on July 26, 2016 at Longview
Memorial Park. Arrangements are under the direction of Longview Memorial Park
and Telford’s Chapel of the Valley, East Wenatchee, WA.
