Dorothy E. Holcomb
September 5, 1919 - September 1, 2016
Dorothy Holcomb passed away in Seattle, WA, after a long illness. Born and
raised in Muscatine, IA, she was married to Harold Bronner in 1939 and the
couple moved to Wenatchee, WA, shortly thereafter. Their daughter, Nancy, was
born in 1948. Harold passed away in 1954 and Dorothy remarried in 1957 to
Oliver Holcomb of Mansfield, WA. They lived in the Mansfield area, and later
in Stehekin, and finally to Wenatchee, until Oliver’s death in 2010. Dorothy’s
final home was in Seattle, WA, to be near her daughter.
Dorothy was a homemaker, a wonderful cook, and baker - her pies were
legendary. She enjoyed gardening and canning her carefully tended produce. Her
home was filled with love and laughter, and with her lovely craftwork of
paintings, crewel work, copper pictures and sewing. She was a life-long member
of the Church of the Brethren. When she returned to Wenatchee, she was
delighted to be able to attend her church and participate in the weekly
quilting circle.
Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Nancy Holcomb of Seattle, WA.
Graveside Service will be at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, September 8, 2016 in the
Wenatchee City Cemetery with arrangements by Telford’s Chapel of the Valley,
East Wenatchee, WA. Memorials may be made to The Washington Chapter of the
Alzheimer’s Association or the Wenatchee Valley Church of the Brethren.
