Charleyne C. Roberts, 92, from Wenatchee, WA, died peacefully at her home on
Thursday, September 8, 2016. Charleyne was born in 1924 in Tacoma, WA, to
Arizona and Carrie Roberts. Ms. Roberts was a much loved home economics
teacher. She taught in several high schools across Washington including Twisp,
Kalama, Chehalis, Langly and finally Wenatchee, where she taught for nearly 20
years and ultimately retired. While teaching, she was also an advisor to many
student organizations including Pep Club, Future Homemakers of America, Junior
and Senior Class, Busy Bakers and many more. Ms. Roberts also spent three
years as an assistant professor at the University of Manitoba in Winnepeg,
Canada. She received her undergraduate and graduate degrees from Washington
State University and was an avid Coug and a life time member of the Alumni
Association. She was an active member of her church, where she was a Sunday
school teacher and member of the choir. She enjoyed gardening, baking, music,
swimming, sewing, quilting, needle work, crocheting and knitting, and loved
sharing these with all those around her. If you knew Charleyne, you were most
likely the lucky recipient of a yummy treat, canned peaches or a hand knit
sweater and blanket.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Ari L. and Lewis G. Roberts; and
her sister, Jacklyn Bodner. She is survived by her nephew, Ari C. Roberts and
his wife, Kristal, and their children, Sydney, Madison and Chance; as well as
her nieces, Irene Bodner and KayC. Pack.
Services will be held on Saturday, September 17, 2016, at 1 p.m. at Brethren
Baptist Church of Wenatchee.
