Keith Allen Magee passed away Saturday, October 1, 2016, at his home in
Wenatchee, WA, at the age of 97. Keith was happiest when those around him were
enjoying themselves. His honest nature, infectious laugh, never-ending jokes,
and razor-sharp wit will be missed by all.
Keith was raised during the Great Depression, in large part by his Aunt Pearl.
He graduated from the Seventh-Day Adventist Academy and started logging in
Oregon until the start of World War II. Keith joined the U.S. Navy and served
as a Seaman First Class in the Vancouver Naval Shipyards, followed by heavy
iron work in Portland, OR. While enlisted, Keith married a childhood friend,
Mary Ann, and they bore a son, Ron, and daughter, Cherie. Keith and Mary Ann
went their separate ways, and Keith met and married Marilyn, his surviving
wife of 63 years.
In the early 50’s, Keith started a wholesale food and meat business, Magees
Meat & Specialties, delivering to stores, restaurants, hotels, and schools
between Portland, Mt. Hood, and The Dalles, OR. Business was good, but he
decided to relocate to Wenatchee, WA, in the early 60’s, to follow his love of
flying, and “Magee Aviation” was born. Keith made many friends over the years
through his business enterprises at what is now Pangborn Field in East
Wenatchee, WA. Keith retired in the late 1980’s, and he and Marilyn split
their time between Sun City West, AZ, and their Entiat River cabin. Eventually
they settled full time in Wenatchee.
Keith was preceded in death by sons: Joey and David; and daughter, Cherie.
Keith is survived by his wife, Marilyn; son, Ron; five grandchildren; numerous
great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren.
One could go on for hours talking about Keith and how much he was adored. It
boils down to four words. “He Made A Difference.”
A Funeral Service will be held at Telford’s Chapel of the Valley, East
Wenatchee, WA, on Monday, October 10, 2016, at 10:30 a.m. Concluding services
and interment will follow at Wenatchee City Cemetery. The casket will remain
closed at all times. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of your
choice.
