Belva L.  Jackson
Belva L. Jackson, age 92, of Wenatchee, WA, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on Saturday, May 13, 2017 at River West Assisted Living in Wenatchee. She was born on October 22, 1924 to Ruben and Ollie Ratcliff at the family farm in Jeriel, Kentucky. The oldest of 13 children, mom spent her younger years looking after her younger sisters and brothers and helping on the farm. In 1941 she met the love of her life Arnold Jackson and they were married November 1,,1945. They spent a few years in Kentucky and then moved to Wenatchee in 1949 where they raised their 3 children, Linda, Larry and Betty.
Belva started work at The Windmill in 1953 and stayed for 35 years, retiring in 1988. She loved seeing the customers and made many longtime friends. Mom was also involved in many volunteer endeavors including Cancer Care of NCW “Our House”, Reach to Recover coordinator for 33 years, a member of the Cancer Board, helped raise money for Diabetes research and participated in the “Relay for Life.”
Belva is survived by her daughters, Mark “Linda” Kearny, East Wenatchee and Betty Jackson, Wenatchee. Grandchildren Amy “Tom” Ovenell, Matt Jackson (Jayme Starr); great grandchildren, Kelsee and Kade Jackson, Autum, Mason and Payton Rookard and great great granddaughter Jazmyn , sisters Ernest (Martha) Stewart of Obetz, Ohio and Ruby Ratcliff, Grayson KY, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arnold, son Larry, 7 brothers and 3 sisters
The family would like to thank the staff and management of River West Assisted Living for their kindness and care of Mom.
Visitation will be held in the Telford’s Chapel in East Wenatchee, 2:00 PM – 6:00 PM Thursday, May 18, 2017 with a Committal Service at 10:30 AM Friday, May 19, 2017 at the Wenatchee City Cemetery Mausoleum 1804 N. Western Avenue in Wenatchee. After the service all are invited to enjoy a light lunch at the YWCA NCW , 212 1st Street, Wenatchee. Memorials may be sent to Cancer Care of NCW 1708 Castlerock Avenue, Wenatchee, WA. Arrangements are by Telford’s Chapel of the Valley, East Wenatchee, WA
