Obituary for Douglas Anthony "Doug" Cortese

Douglas A. “Doug” Cortese age 67 passed away peacefully on December 30th at Central Washington Hospital with his wife at his side. He was born August 6, 1950 to Lola and Joseph Cortese in Boston Ma. He received his GED in 1968 and joined the Army serving a tour in Viet Nam. After being discharged from the Army, he served another 7 years in the coast guard. He married Rita (Snyder) Cortese on November 19th, 1993. A year later they moved to Wenatchee. While in Wenatchee, he worked for several fruit warehouses including Cascadian fruit shippers, Witte Brothers and Phillippi Fruit as a forklift driver. He was an avid bowler bowling the Thursday night Scratch league almost having a perfect game (299). He loved to share his experiences with family and friends, spending hours talking to his two grandchildren William Kearney (Kristina) of Spokane and Ashley Nicole Kearney of Cave City Arkansas. Other survivors include his wife Rita, brother Marc of Spain, sister Doreen of Spokane, great grandchildren Ali of Spokane and Renae of Bellingham, many cousins, nieces and nephews. His parents, favorite Uncle Vince Cortese, Daughter Michelle Moon and his dog Luna preceded him in death. At Doug’s request, there will be no service. Arrangements are by Chapel of the Valley, Wenatchee.
