Emma (Visser) Kuhlmann LeRoy
Emma passed away peacefully into her Lord and Savior’s arms at hers and her daughter’s home on top of Badger Mountain on April 7, 2018. She was born on December 15, 1921, to Martha (Duchow) and Garritt Visser, at their ranch near Havillah, WA. She was the only girl with ten brothers.
She attended a Parochial school at Havillah for 6 years. The last 2 years she attended Bonaparte School where she graduated 8th grade.
In 1941 Emma graduated Tonasket High School.
On March 14, 1942 Emma married Harold Kuhlmann on his birthday, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Havillah.
They bought a ten acre ranch 5 miles north of Tonasket on Britain Flats, later turning it into an apple and pear orchard.
On June 23, 1946 they adopted 8 ½ month old Noral Gene. On December 15, 1949 they adopted 4 ½ month old Nancy Rae. She was Emma’s 28th birthday present.
Harold passed away September 7, 1981. That same year they had celebrated 39 years of marriage.
On July 22, 1995 Emma married John LeRoy. John passed away on December 22, 2001.
Emma babysat most of her adult life. She was a member of Hope Lutheran Church in Tonasket and the Tonasket Senior Center.
She loved the Lord, her family and friends, babysitting and babies, gardening, flowers, reading, playing pinochle, fishing, hunting, camping, and family and friends visiting.
Emma was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Harold and John; her son, Noral; brothers, Julius, Marlowe, Ray, Hugh and Gerald Visser. She is survived by daughter, Nancy Pearcy; brothers, Bob, Ray (Ina), Dwight (Jean), Dwayne (Stella) and Wesley (Judy) Visser; daughter-in-law, JoAnna Kuhlmann; Grandchildren, Stephanie and Noral Kuhlmann Jr., Annette (Scott) Osborn, Sandy (Tim) Tontz and Marcus (Amanda) Pearcy; great-grandchildren, Corey Russell, Cameron, Justin, Cody (Stanton), Lorinda Eakle, Christopher Tontz, Taylor Gosvenor, Alexys and Andrew Pearcy; five great-great-grandchildren and many babysitting children.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, April 20, 2018 at Havillah Cemetery at 11:00 a.m. A memorial service will follow at 1:00 p.m. at Hope Lutheran Church in Tonasket. Memorial donations may be made to Hope Lutheran Church in Tonasket, Tonasket Senior Center or Ortoha Camp. Arrangements are by Chapel of the Valley, Wenatchee.
